(a) whether the operation of heavy industries has been adversely affected in the country during the worlwide COVID-19 Pandemic period;
(b) if so, the number of Private and Public Sector Industries affected in the country, State-wise; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): The operation of heavy industries under the Ministry of Heavy Industries has been adversely affected during the COVID-19 Pandemic because of disruption in domestic/ global supply chains, frequent disruptions in operations of factories and localised containment measures. No centralized data is maintained in this Ministry regarding public and private sector industries in this regard.
Steps taken to deal with the situation inter-alia include active dissemination of guidelines related to containing the spread of Covid-19 and adhering to social distancing and other Covid-19 protocols, vaccination of employees, addressing liquidity issues of companies, thrust on faster adoption and manufacturing of electric vehicles, introduction of Production linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes for manufacturing Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) etc.
