Question : Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)

(a) whether it is a fact that Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in September, 2020 and if so, the features of PMMSY;
(b) the details of the funds sanctioned, allocated and utilized under this yojana, State-wise including Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu during each of the last three years and the current year;
(c) whether the Government has taken any steps or proposes to take any steps to permit fisheries under PMMSY particularly in Akola, Sangamner, Kopargaon, Rahata, Shrirampur, Nevasa, Rahuri, Karzat and Jamkhed in Shirdi Parliamentary Constituency of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra, if so, the details thereof;
(d) the details of the target set and achievements made so far;
(e) whether the Government has fixed any percentage for assisting underprivileged women under this yojana; and
(f) if so, the details thereof and the amount that has been spent for the welfare of women involved in fishing or belonging to fishing communities from this fund?

(a): The Government of India approved in May, 2020 the flagship scheme : the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with highest ever investment of Rs.20,050 crore in the fisheries sector for implementation in all the States/UTs for a period of five years with effect from the Financial Year (FY) 2020-21 to FY 2024-25.
(b): The state-wise details of the funds sanctioned, allocated and utilized including in the states of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu during last two years of implementation of PMMSY i.e. 2020-21 and 2021-22 are furnished at Annexure-I.




(c): The Government of Maharashtra has reported that under the PMMSY the State Government has sanctioned a total of 82 number of beneficiaries in Ahmednagar District and taluka-wise details are as below:

(d): PMMSY, amongst the other, primarily aims to enhance fish production, productivity, export earnings. The fish production during 2020-21 has recorded at all-time high at 147.25 lakh tonne and the fisheries export during 2021-22 stood at 13.69 lakh metric tons and valued at Rs.57,587 crores (USD 7.76 billion).
(e) and (f): The PMMSY implemented by the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying envisages inclusive development by providing higher financial assistance to SC/ST and women. The Department of Fisheries, Government of India has accorded approval to the project proposals to the tune of Rs.1120.22 crore with a central share of Rs. 439.42 crore for 34698 numbers of women beneficiaries under PMMSY during 2020-21 to 2021-22.
