Question : NRISR in Ladakh

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to establish a National Research Institute For Sowa-Regpa (NRISR) in Leh, Ladakh;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the time by which the Government plans to do so;

(d) whether the Government has any plans to promote Hydrotherapy (hot spring water) in the country particularly in Ladakh;

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the proposals of the Government plans in this regard; and

(f) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): The National Research Institute for Sowa- Rigpa(NRISR) at Leh, Ladakh was established by the Ministry of AYUSH in 2009. In addition, the Government has recently approved establishment of a National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa(NISR), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of AYUSH, at Leh, Ladakh.

(d) to (f): At present there is no plan to promote Hydrotherapy (hot spring water) under this Institute in Ladakh. However, the Institute may consider a plan for Hydrotherapy in Ladakh in future.
