Question : Women SHGs in FPIs

(a) whether the Government proposes to connect women self-help groups (SHGs) with the villages of the country in the field of Food Processing Industry (FPI);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the work done in this direction;

(c) whether his Ministry has sanctioned and released any fund for the said purpose and if so, the details thereof during the each of the during last five years;

(d) the total number of Women Self-Help Groups working in the field of FPI across the country, State-wise;

(e) whether under ‘Aatmanirbhar Narishakti se Samvad’ initiative Government wishes to increase opportunities for the women and if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the details of employment likely to be generated for the women in the field of FPI by establishing such self help groups?

(a) & (b): Ministry of Food Processing Industries is supporting self-help groups (SHGs), including women SHGs, engaged in Food Processing activities through its schemes. Under Centrally Sponsored PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, Ministry provides Grants for seed capital up to Rs. 40,000/- per member of SHG. Individual SHG member can avail credit linked grant @35% of the project cost with maximum ceiling of Rs.10 lakh as a single unit of food processing enterprise. SHGs are also eligible for assistance under relevant component schemes of Central Sector Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY).

(c): The seed capital component of PMFME is implemented through respective State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs). As per information shared by SRLMs, an amount of Rs 107.29 cr has been released by MoFPI for supporting 32245 SHG members, who have submitted their proposal for seed capital support.

(d) to (f): Ministry identifies SHG enterprises including women SHG enterprises for seed capital applications with support from Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) & and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM). State -wise number of SHG enterprises identified in food processing sector is placed at Annexure. All the SHG members identified for seed capital applications under PMFME Scheme are likely to be employed.
