Question : FOUR LANING OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS



(a) whether the Government have received any request to improve the quality/riding conditions of the National Highways till the four-laning works are actually implemented or carried out;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government have given any instruction to NHAI to sanction special schemes for maintaining the NH`s and to improve the riding conditions; and

(d) if so, the details of such projects already undertaken?

(a) & (b) Requests for improvement of riding quality and maintenance of National Highways which are to be four-laned are received by the Government from time to time. Such requests are examined and appropriate action is taken.

(c) & (d) NHAI has been instructed to maintain all existing National Highway sections entrusted to it, in traffic-worthy condition until the widening to 4/6-lanes, as envisaged, are completed.
