Question : Medical Facilities at Airports

(a) the details regarding essential medical facilities presently available for passengers at airports;

(b) the extant policy instructions of Government to airport authorities for provision of medical facilities at airports;

(c) whether the Government proposes to make it mandatory for airports to maintain essential medical facilities for passengers; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): First aid services are available at all operational airports to meet the medical emergencies in accordance with the guidelines issued by ICAO under Annexure-9 (Facilitation).;

(c) & (d): As per the National Civil Aviation Facilitation Progamme (NCAFP), all the airport operators are required to make provisions for adequate medical facilities in collaboration with the Ministry of Health with a view to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and to ensure
accessibility of appropriate medical service including diagnostic facilities to sick travelers and airport workers.
