(a) whether the Government proposes to provide alternative
coal blocks to companies that lose captive coal mining rights
midway through their project cycle because of environmental and

(a) & (b) There is no provision in the existing guidelines under
which allocation of alternative block in lieu of the
allocated/recommended block could be considered. The matter in respect
of allocation of alternative blocks in lieu of allotted coal blocks
had been examined by the Working Group under the chairmanship of Member
(Energy), Planning Commission, but no decision has been taken on the matter.
