Question : CNG Stations

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to increase the number of CNG Stations in Delhi/NCR, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal; and
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the details of requirements/prerequisites for any individual/firm intending to install a CNG station?

(a) & (b) The development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network is being carried out by the authorized CGD entities in the area. Setting up of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations is a part of the development of CGD network depending on work plan, market principles and subject to statutory clearances. The authorized entity has exclusivity to install CNG station within the Geographical Area (GA) upto a specified period as indicated in the authorisation document. In order to increase the number of CNG stations in the country including Delhi/NCR, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, PNGRB, the regulatory authority has received bids for 86 GAs covering 174 districts under 9th CGD bidding round
