Question : SAI Training Centres

(a) the present status of work on new Sports Authority of India (SAI) training centre at Meham in Haryana;
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up such centre at Rohtak and Sirsa also and if so, the details and the present status thereof;
(c) whether work on these centres is progressing as per schedule and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) the investment made by the Government thereon so far along with the time by which these centres are likely to be made fully operational and ready to impart training to sportspersons; and
(e) the details of sports/games which are likely to be included for training at these centres?

(a) Sports Authority of India (SAI) had sent the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to Govt. of Haryana in regard to SAI Training Centre (STC), Meham with the condition that physical
possession of the complex will be taken over by SAI on construction of Hostel and two Halls. SAI has not yet received any reply from Govt. of Haryana.
(b) No such proposal for Sirsa has been received from the State Govt. However, SAI National Sports Academy in Boxing is already operational at Rohtak with 74 Trainees (35 Boys & 39 Girls).
(c) The SAI National Sports Academy in Boxing is already operational at Rohtak.
(d) & (e): In view of (c) above, do not arise.
