Question : Strengthening of National Commission of Women

(a) whether the Government has enacted or proposes to enact any new law to strengthen the National Commission for Women (NCW) as well as State Women Commissions;
(b) if so, the details thereof:
(c) whether the Commission proposes to increase the minimum age limit of boys and girls for marriage;
(d) if so, the details thereof;
(e) the number of recommendations made by the Commission during the last two years and the action taken by the Government thereon; and
(f) the further measures taken by the Government to give more autonomy to the Commission?

(a)(b)&(f): At present National Commission for Women is carrying out its functions as per the provisions of National Commission for Women Act, 1990.
(c) & (d): No Madam.
(e) : The Commission made 15 recommendations of review of laws for the year 2014-15 and 9 recommendations of review of laws for the year 2015-16.
