Question : Functioning of ICCR

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) the details of the number of Regional Offices running/functioning under ICCR across the country, State/UT-wise including West Bengal, Gujarat and Kerala;

(b) the details of the number of foreign students studying in Indian Universities on Scholarship provided by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, at present, State/UT-wise during the last three years;

(c) the details of the expenditure incurred on these students during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise;

(d) the details of the target set, if any, and the achievements made during the above period; and

(e) whether the Government is planning to make some amendments in this Scholarship scheme and planning to open more regional offices and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

(a) The Council has 19 Regional Offices in India. Student related activities in Delhi are supervised by ICCR Headquarters in Delhi. There is no separate Regional Office in Delhi. List of Regional Offices at Annexure-I.

(b) Details of the number of foreign students studying in Indian Universities under scholarship provided by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) are at Annexure-II.

(c) Details of the expenditure incurred on the students during the last three years and the current year, State/UT wise are placed on Annexure-III.

(d) Details of total number of scholarship slots offered and total numbers of scholarship slots utilized are placed at Annexure-IV.
