(a) the details of the funds allocated per kilometer to various States by the Union Government for the maintenance of National Highways;
(b) whether a lesser amount is being provided by the Union Government to Madhya Pradesh as compared to other States;
(c) if so, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the steps taken to iron out the said disparity?

(a) The allocation of funds for maintenance of National Highways to the various States depends not only on length of National Highways but also on lane width, type of terrain, traffic density, type of the soil, extent of damages, intensity of rainfall etc. The allocation per kilometer varies from State to State due to reasons mentioned above. The State-wise details of funds allocated per kilometer during 2004-05 are annexed.
