Question : Socio-Economic Development of NER

(a) whether the Government has taken any major policy decisions for socio-economic development of the North Eastern Region (NER) and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the details of projects financed by the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFCL) and the funds allocated/utilised during each of the last three years and the current year, project-wise;
(c) whether the NEDFCL has scaled down disbursement target from the financial year 2013-14 and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(d) the other steps being taken by the Government for economic development of North Eastern Region?

(a) The Government had enhanced the earmarked outlay from Rs.29124.79 crore at BE stage in 2016-17 to Rs.32180.08 crore at the RE stage to be spent by Fifty Six (56) line Ministries in the North Eastern Region. This has been further increased by 34.38% to Rs.43244.64 crore in 2017-18.




(b) The details of projects financed by the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) and the funds allocated/ utilised during each of the last three years and the current year, project-wise are as follows:
