Question : High Speed Rail Corridors

(a) the details of the progress made by the Railways in introducing the high speed rail corridors in the country, zone-wise;

(b) the standards adopted including infrastructure, rolling stock and operating conditions for the proposed corridors;

(c) whether the corridors will be built on standard gauge; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor on Western Railway has been sanctioned with financial and technical assistance from Government of Japan. National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRC) has been incorporated in February, 2016 to implement this project. Work on appointment of General Consultant, Final Location Survey and training of officials has commenced.

Standard gauge, design speed of 350 kmph and Electrical Multiple Units have been adopted for the project.
