(a)& (b) During the last three months, the wholesale domestic prices of all major edible oils have increased marginally. The increase in prices is due to untimely rain throughout the country. However, during the current month, as on 13.07.2015, the prices of all edible oils have either decreased or remained stable as compared to June, 2015. The details are in table given below:-

The domestic production of edible oils and pulses are insufficient to meet the domestic demand. Further the demand of edible oils and Pulses has also increased due to increase in population and purchasing power of the people.
(d) In order to make country self reliant in edible oils and to cut down the import of edible oils, a National Mission on Oilseeds and Oil Palm (NMOOP) has been launched from 2014-15, for increasing production of vegetable oils sourced from oilseeds; oil palm and Tree Borne Oil seeds (TBOs).
Similarly for increasing production & productivity of Pulses National Food Security Mission (NFSM-Pulses) is being implemented from 2014-15 in 622 districts of 27 States.
