Question : Central Legislation for Regulation of Yoga and Naturopathy Systems

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether there is any central legislation for regulation of education and practice in Yoga and Naturopathy systems;

(b) if so, the details thereof and if not the reasons therefor; and

(c) the steps being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): No, currently there is no central legislation for regulation of education and practice in Yoga and Naturopathy.
(b) & (c): The Government has established a Board namely, “National Board for Promotion of Yoga & Naturopathy” (NBPYN) in February, 2016 to take policy decisions regarding promotion of Yoga & Naturopathy in the country. Steps for empowering the existing mechanism of NBPYN are being taken up to strengthen the aspects of regulating education and practice of Yoga and Naturopathy.
