(a)whether Government is aware of random lay-offs of employees of the MNCs in the country;
(b)if so, whether Government has monthly report and data on the suspension and or termination of staff since January 2017; and
(c)if so, the action taken by Government with the agencies to continue their staffs and thereby expansion of projects thereof?

(a) to (c): Labour is in the Concurrent List. State Governments are mandated to take appropriate action on the disputes falling in their sphere. Such data is not maintained centrally. However, Labour Bureau, an attached office of Ministry of Labour & Employment, brings out statistics on “Industrial Disputes, Closures, Retrenchments and Lay-offs in India” based on the voluntary returns received every month from the Labour Departments of the States and the Regional Labour Commissioners (Central). The information on layoffs and that on units affecting Retrenchment during 2017-2019 (received till 27th January, 2020) are at Annexure-I and Annexure-II respectively.
