(a) & (b) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reported that no complaint has been received regarding irregularities in expansion of facilities and modernization of telecom services in Tonk and Sawai Madhopur districts of Rajasthan.
(c) Following initiatives have been taken by BSNL to improve its mobile services in Rajasthan:
(i) In Phase-VII(Lot-1) Sawai Madhopur, Alwar, Ajmer district and Kota city have already been upgraded with new technology mobile equipments.
(ii) In Phase VII+ (add on) – Jaipur & Jodhpur cities have been upgraded with new technology mobile equipments.
(iii) In Phase VII(Lot-2) Tonk, Dausa, Sriganganagar & Baran cities have been upgraded with new technology mobile equipments and also new technology 3G BTS installed in rural areas of Tonk, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh districts.
Further, in forthcoming GSM VIII-4 project some more town/cities of Rajasthan will be upgraded with new technology mobile equipments.
(d) Government has planned to provide mobile coverage in uncovered villages of the country including Rajasthan in a phased manner based on availability of funds/resources.
The identification of uncovered villages is in the process through a web portal made available to all state/UT Governments including Rajasthan wherein states/UT have been requested to upload the data regarding availability/non-availability of mobile services for each village along with the names of Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) on the portal. As per current data available, Rajasthan State has verified for only 5% of the total villages in Rajasthan.
Once the uncovered villages are identified by the state, the necessary proposal would be formulated.
(e) BSNL is expanding its mobile services in Tonk and Sawai Madhopur districts of Rajasthan as per technical feasibility and commercial viability.
