(a) whether the Government of Andhra Pradesh has sought assistance from the Union Government for modernisation of K.C.Canal for execution of medium irrigation projects in the State; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in the matter ?

(a) & (b) No proposal has been received by the Union
Government from the Government of Andhra Pradesh seeking
assistance for modernization of K.C. Canal. However, K.C.
Canal is receiving assistance from JBIC, Japan. Central Loan
Assistance (CLA) under Accelerated Irrigation Benefits
Programme (AIBP) is being released by the Union Government
for those major/medium irrigation projects which are in
advanced stage of construction and not receiving financial
assistance from other external and domestic agencies. 6
medium irrigation projects of Andhra Pradesh have so far
received CLA amounting to Rs.53.92 Crores under AIBP.
