(a)&(b) Yes, Sir. In the recent launch of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle–C3 (PSLV-C3), India has launched successfully Technology Experiment Satellite (TES). It has also launched two small satellites, PROBA of Belgium and BIRD of Germany into precise orbit.

(c) The main objective of the Technology Experiment Satellite (TES) was to develop and test a set of critical technologies to provide on-orbit demonstration and validation of these technologies for future enhanced capability missions, and also to provide hands-on experience in handling complex mission operations such as step & stare manoeuvres. PROBA is a small satellite meant for testing advanced technologies and remote sensing applications, while BIRD satellite is meant for detection of hot spots such as forest fires and volcanoes.

(d) The TES provides necessary platform to test vital technologies for future enhanced missions, thus strengthening the capabilities of the Indian Space Programme, both in technology, techniques and their applications. The successful mission has further demonstrated the reliability and versatility of the PSLV.
