Question : OLD AGE PENSION



(a) the details of the funds allocated to States for old age persons living below poverty line under the National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP) during the last three years and the current year; State-wise;

(b) whether the State Governments have demanded additional funds for extension of the said scheme; and

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) A statement is attached at Annexure - I.

(b) to (d) The details of additional funds demanded by some State Governments for the year 2001-2002 are indicated in the Statement attached at Annexure - II. Given the constraint of resources, it may not be feasible currently to allocate additional funds to these States under the Scheme. However, in the case of Orissa, additional funds to the tune of Rs.4.68 crores have been agreed to for 8 districts, namely, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada and Sonepur districts.
