Question : DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS OF AIRPORTS



(a) the total number of airports under the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh;

(b) the details of the development projects of airports taken up by AAI in these States during the last three years and the current year along with their pesent status;

(c) whether AAI has acquired land for setting up of an airport in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh;

(d) if so, the details thereof along with other airport projects in the State for which land has been provided by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh; and

(e) the number of airports in the State which have been upgraded to international airports?

(a): Airports Authority of India (AAI) has 9 airports (including 4 Civil Enclaves (CE)) in Uttar Pradesh and 8 airports (including 1 Civil Enclave) in Madhya Pradesh. (b): The details are at Annexure I.

(c)&(d): No, Madam. Singrauli Airport belongs to State Government of Madhya Pradesh. AAI has not received any request from the State Government for the development/setting up of this airport. The Government of Madhya Pradesh has provided land to AAI for upgradation of the Bhopal, Khajuraho and Jabalpur airports.

(e): Bhopal and Indore airports have been upgraded to international standards.
