MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
(SMT. SMRITI ZUBIN IRANI)

(a) to (c) Proposals for opening of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) are considered only if sponsored by Ministries or Departments of the Government of India or State Governments / Union Territories Administrations or Organization of employees belonging to the eligible categories thereby committing resources for setting up a new KV, and are subject to availability of resources with the Central Government and sanction of the competent authority. Government had accorded approval of 54 new KVs out of which 32 KVs have already been made functional. However, at present no sanction of Government of India is available for opening of a new KV under Civil Sector. Out of proposals received from various sponsoring authorities, for opening of new KVs, 13 proposals have been found feasible including one for Gujarat. The State / UT-wise break-up of number of such feasible proposals is annexed.
