Question : Solar Parks

(a) whether the Government has proposed for setting up of solar parks in the State of Andhra Pradesh;
(b) if so, the number and cumulative capacity of the sanctioned solar parks in Andhra Pradesh and their operational status;
(c) whether the Government is aware of the fact that out of the 12000 off-grid solar street lamps sanctioned, only 2000 solar street lamps have been installed in
Andhra Pradesh;
(d) if so, the reason therefor and if not, the action plan to achieve the targets at the earliest;
(e) whether the Government is aware of the fact that the solar energy potential is of 38 GW and installed capacity is of only 3.8 GW in the state of Andhra Pradesh;
(f) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons for such a low adoption of solar energy generation in the state; and
(g) the measures taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)&(b) The details of solar parks sanctioned in the State of Andhra Pradesh along with their capacity and status are given in Annexure-I.

(c)&(d) The Government of Andhra Pradesh has reported that it was allotted 12,000 nos. of Off-Grid Solar Street Lights under Off-grid and Decentralized Solar PV Application Programme Phase-III for the years 2019-20 & 2020-21. Out of the allotment, 1968 nos. of street lights were installed. The reason for short fall is that beneficiary organizations have not come forward to pay the beneficiary contribution for installation of Solar Street Lights.

(e)&(f) Yes, Sir. The potential of solar energy in the State of Andhra Pradesh is 38.44 GW against which solar power capacity of 4.29 GW has been installed as on 31.10.2021. The development of solar power projects in any State depends upon the initiative taken by the State including in land allocation and bidding conducted by state agencies for solar power purchase.

(g) The details of important measures taken for promotion of solar energy in the country, including in Andhra Pradesh are given in Annexure- II.
