(a) whether the Government has any proposal to amend the provisions of the Indian Penal Code
relating to accidents due to rash and negligent driving to make them more stringent;
(b) if so,the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government proposes to provide any compensation to the family of the victims of
such cases;and
(d) if so,the details thereof?

(c) & (d): Under the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act,1988,road accident victims can claim
compensation either under structured compensation formula on “no fault principle†or approach
Motor Accident Claims Tribunal for higher amount of compensation in case of hit and run cases (death) a sum of Rupees Twenty Five Thousand can be claimed by the family of the road accident
victim.
