(a) to (c) In the recent past, the Central Government received proposals from the Government of Karnataka for
establishment of six new Government Medical Colleges. After due scrutiny, permission for establishment of new
Government Medical Colleges at Belgaum, Mandya and Hassan was granted by the Central Government during
the academic year 2006-07, and permission for establishment of new Government Medical Colleges at Bidar,
Shimoga and Raichur has been granted by the Central Government for the academic year 2007-08.
