Question : Train Ambulance Services

(a) whether the Indian Railways provides train ambulance facility in the country and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Railways is considering to have dedicated train ambulance services to transfer the poor sick passengers from one destination to another and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Railways has any facility to transport dead bodies from one place to another by train and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, whether the Railways is considering to develop such facility so that people can transport the dead bodies of their relatives?

(c) Yes, Sir. Facility for transportation of dead bodies (corpses) through Railways has been available since long. A dead body can be transported through Railways duly following the laid down provisions.
