Question : POWER SUPPLY IN ORISSA



(a) whether the supply of power to Orissa is less than the quantum of power required by this State;

(b) if so, the reaction of the Government in this regard; and

(c) the efforts made by the government to ensure supply of power to Orissa in adequate quantity and as per requirements?

There is no energy shortage in Orissa. However, there is a peaking shortage of 6.6%. Eastern Region as a whole is surplus in power and exports power to other regions. Orissa is also supplying 150 MW power to Andhra Pradesh under a bilateral agreement.
