(a) the number of cantonment boards in the country along with the role of the representatives of people in the said boards;
(b) whether the Government is considering to nominate these representatives of people as Chairman of the cantonment board; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) There are 62 Cantonment Boards notified under the Cantonment Act, 2006 in the country. As per Section 12(9) of the Cantonments Act, 2006, the Member of Parliament and Member of Legislative Assembly representing constituencies which comprises wholly or partly the cantonment area, shall be special invitees for the meetings of the Board but without a right to vote.
(b) & (c): No such proposal is under consideration of the Government.
