(a) whether the Government have received any proposal from Government of Kerala for setting up an ICMR field unit in Kerala;
(b) if so, the decision taken by the Union Government thereon;
(c) whether ICMR field units are functioning in other States; and
(d) if so, the details of the same, State-wise?
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (SHRI A. RAJA)
(a)&(b): A request was received from Governemnt of Kerala
for establishment of a field station in order to strengthen
the capacity of the State to deal with the outbreak of
Leptospirosis, a major health threat in the State. The
Government of Kerala has been advised to explore the
possibility of capacity strengthening through the Regional
Medical Research Center at Port Blair which act as a
National Research Center of Leptospirosis.
