(a) whether solar energy based lights have been installed at railway
level crossing in the country including West Central Railways;
(b) if so, the details thereof, zone-wise;
(c) whether the quality of lights installed is poor and sub standard;
(d) if so, whether the Railways have enquired into it; and
(e) if so, the outcome thereof and the action taken against those found guilty?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. At present, 3273 level crossing (LC) gates all over
the country have been provided with solar energy based lights, out of which
412 nos. are on West Central Railway.
(c) to (e): Solar lights at these level crossing gates are procured to
specifications approved by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) & from
sources available against Director General Supply & Disposal (DGS&D) rate
contract. The performance of these solar lights has been found satisfactory.
