Question : Banking Frauds Related To Aadhaar

Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware of the increasing number of cases involving Aadhaar related banking frauds;

(b) if so, the details of Aadhaar related banking frauds reported during the last three years; and

(c) the details of steps taken by the Government to avoid the recurrence of such Aadhaar related frauds?

(a), (b) and (c): As per information received from Reserve bank of India (RBI), the data on total number of cases involving Aadhaar related banking frauds is not specifically captured and therefore, not available.

RBI, NPCI, and Banks are undertaking adequate risk mitigation & consumer protection measures to minimize the occurrence of frauds in digital payments.
