Question : Nehru Yuva Kendra

(a) the number of Nehru Yuva Kendras functioning in the country,
State-wise;
(b) the names of the schemes being implemented through these
kendras;
(c) whether the Government proposes to change the name of
Nehru Yuva Kendra as Swami Vivekananda Yuva Kendra;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(e) whether these kendras are adequately staffed at present and
if not, the steps taken by the Government to fill up vacant posts?

(a) There are 623 district Nehru Yuva Kendras functioning in the
country. A list of these Kendras is at Annexure–I.
(b) The names of Schemes/ Programmes implemented through
these Kendras is given in Annexure-II.
(c) & (d) There is no proposal to change the name of Nehru Yuva
Kendra Sangathan as Swami Vivekananda Yuva Kendra.
(e) No, Madam. Each Kendra has 3 sanctioned posts. There are
vacancies in the two key posts, i.e., District Youth Coordinator
(DYC) and Accounts Clerk-cum-Typists (ACTs). In case of DYCs,
377 posts are vacant out of 623 sanctioned posts and in case of
ACTs, 218 posts are vacant out of 688 posts. Most of the posts
have lapsed since they have remained vacant for over a year.
Steps have been initiated for getting the posts revived from
Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure.
