(a) the details of road stretches in Gujarat which are entrusted to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for improvement under various programmes;
(b) whether the Government is contemplating any alternate method for improvement of National Highways (NHs) in the State;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether there is any policy for upgradation of State Highways and NHs; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) At present, about 28 NH works comprising 870 km length having Cost of Rs. 27,284 crore in the State of Gujarat have been taken up for upgradation/improvement/widening under various programmes through National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
(b) to (e) This Ministry is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of National Highways in the country. Development works on various National Highways are taken up from time to time based on the requirement of connectivity, inter-se priority, traffic, availability of funds etc.
