Question : Ayurvedic Medical Colleges Compared toAllopathic Medical Colleges

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is a fact that the Ayurvedic Medical Colleges are lagging behind in terms of performance as compared to Allopathic Medical Colleges and the Government is fully dependent on private sector for setting up of Ayurvedic Medical Colleges in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise and the reasons therefor;

(c) the total number of colleges set up by the Government and also those set up in private sector during last one year and the reasons for variation in numbers thereof; and

(d) whether the Government has taken or proposes to take any concrete steps to set up more Government colleges and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): In this connection it is stated the Ayurvedic medical colleges are not lagging behind the performance as compared to allopathic Medical Colleges. Regulations for setting up of Ayurvedic medical Colleges has been revised on 11th July, 2019 and anybody whether Govt. or private can apply for setting up of Ayurvedic College. (Available on website, http://ccimindia.org/pdf/regulation%2013A.pdf) The permission to establish the college is granted after assessing the available minimum Standards and requirements as per existing rules.
(c): The Ministry of AYUSH has given the permission to set up new AYUSH Medical Colleges during the year 2019-20 are as under:
Private Colleges Govt. Colleges
Ayurveda 10 01
Unani 00 00
Siddha 02 00
Sowa-Rigpa 00 03

(b) &(e): The Ministry of AYUSH processes the applications received from State Government/Private body to setup new AYUSH Medical colleges. The permission is used to granted after assessing the available minimum standard and requirements of the institute/ colleges proposed to be set up.
