(a) Yes, Madam.
(b) Government proposes to restructure the Brahmaputra Board by way of brining an amendment in the existing
Brahmaputra Board Act, 1980. The proposed Board shall consist of the following members, namely:
(i) a Chairman, three Chief Engineers, one Director, North Eastern Hydraulic and Allied Research Institute
(NEHARI), Secretary of the Board and the Financial Advisor to the Board.
(ii) a member each to represent respectively the Governments of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya,
Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal and member from North-Eastern Council.
(iii) a member each to represent the Ministries of Agriculture, Water Resources, Shipping, Finance, Power,
Road Transport & Highways, Development of North Eastern Region.
(c) Brahmaputra Board has not conducted any training programme on flood control management and river training.
