Question : Designing of Mobile App for Information of Monuments

(a) whether there is any proposal with the Archaeological Survey of India to design mobile apps containing information about the monuments and other protected historical structures;

(b) if so, the details thereof and whether it would also assist in the development of tourism across the country; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the follow-up action taken by the Government till now in this regard?

(a) & (b) Yes, sir. The Archaeological Survey in India (ASI) has decided to develop a mobile application ‘Indian Heritage’ and place it in public domain. The application covers information about Centrally Protected Monuments along with provisions to upload information about State Protected Monuments.

Besides the information in text form, maps and attractive visuals, the application provides other facilities like e-ticketing, film permissions, etc.

(c) ASI has collaborated with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG), a part of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India, and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the mobile application.
