Question : AIR SERVICE FOR NEW DESTINATIONS



(a) whether the Government propose to provide air services to other new destinations in its domestic services;

(b) if so, the names of the places included in the above proposal;

(c) whether Gorakhpur is also included in the above proposal;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor;

(e) whether the Government propose to start regular air service from Sholapur airport; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a): No, Sir.

(b) and (c): Do not arise. Gorakhpur is already connected by private scheduled operator Sahara Airlines.

(d): Government has laid down Route Dispersal Guidelines with a view to achieve better regulation of air transport services taking into account the need for air transport services of different regions of the country including North-Eastern region. It is, however, upto the airlines to provide air services to specific places depending upon the traffic demand and commercial viability. As such, the airlines are free to operate anywhere in the country subject to compliance of Route Dipsersal Guidelines.
