Question : APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS IN KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA SANGATHAN



(a) whether Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has a provision to appoint teachers on contract and part time basis;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the number of teachers thus appointed by the Sangathan under these basis during 2000-2001, till date, in Delhi and Dehradun region?

(a)&(b) : Arising of vacancies and their filling up is a continuous process. In order to ensure continuous availability of teachers till the vacancies are filled up by regular incumbents, a scheme exists in Kendriya Vidyalayas to appoint teachers on contractual basis for a period not exceeding one year. There is also a provision for appointment of teachers on part time basis depending upon the need and requirement. The details of conditions and methodology for such appointments are as under:-


(i) The candidates should fulfill the requisite qualification/conditions for the post as prescribed for direct recruitment in the Recruitment Rules.

(ii) The Selection Committee should consists of Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee or his nominee, Principal and an eminent Educationist to the area.

(iii) The teachers so engaged have no claim or right to appointment on regular basis nor they will be part of the cadre of teachers in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.


(c) As per the information furnished by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan during 2000-2001, 247 and 191 teachers have been appointed under these provisions in Delhi and Dehradun Regions respectively. The figure of Delhi Region relates to all but two schools.
