Question : COFFEE DEBT RELIEF PACKAGE



(a) whether any shortcomings have been reported in the implementation of Coffee Debt Relief package;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government to rectify the same; and

(c) the total amount of loan waived off along with the number of farmers benefited under the said scheme?

(a&b): Coffee Debt Relief Package 2010 sanctioned by Government of India for the debt ridden coffee growers has been implemented successfully by the Coffee Board and Banks. No shortcomings in the implementation of the Coffee Debt Relief Package (CDRP) has come to the notice of the Coffee Board. However, some of the farmers who could not get the benefit as per their expectations/ calculations represented to the Coffee Board. As and when such representations were received, the matter was taken up with the banks and State Level Bankers Committees.

(c): Total benefit of Rs. 293.45 crores of Government share of liability has been reimbursed benefiting 1,35,283 small coffee growers.
