Question : Functioning of CPSUs

(a) the details of Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) functioning in different parts of the country, State-wise, including Andhra Pradesh, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh;
(b) the details of CPSUs including Joint Venture Companies and subsidiaries set up during the last three years and the current year along with the status of their profit/loss CPSU-wise;

(c) whether the Government proposes to establish more CPSUs in the coming years;

(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(e) the details of the benefits including employment opportunities accruing to the local people from setting up of CPSUs in the States; and

(f) the steps taken by the Government to ensure that these CPSUs under the Ministry are run competently and efficiently towards the society?

(a): The State -wise details of CPSEs including those functioning in Andhra Pradesh, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh are given in Appendix-III (from Page No. S-187 to S-192) of Volume I of Public Enterprises Survey 2015-16 laid in the Parliament on 21.03.2017.
(b): The details of CPSEs including subsidiaries established during the last 3 years i.e. 2015-16, 2014-15 and 2013-14 is given in Annex. The information on joint venture is not maintained centrally.
(c) & (d): The decision to establish more CPSEs is taken by the concerned administrative Ministries / Departments in consultation with various stakeholders and in line with techno-economic feasibility.
(e) & (f): The CPSEs help in the development of state and in the growth of associated ancillary industries in the local areas. The CPSE-wise details of employees is given in Statement 22 (Page no. S-145 to S- 152) of Volume I of Public Enterprises Survey 2015-16 laid in the Parliament on 21.03.2017. The concerned administrative Ministries and the Board of the CPSEs monitor the functioning of the CPSEs including the fulfilling corporate social responsibilities. The performance of the CPSEs is also evaluated annually through the MoU system.
