(a) the number of people suffering from the Muscular Dystrophy in the country at present, State-wise;
(b) the details of the Government Hospitals where treatment for this disease is available;
(c) the details of the assistance provided to the patients in this regard; and
(d) the steps taken by the Government to provide affordable treatment of this disease?

(a) No such data is maintained by this Ministry.
(b) to (d) Such diseases are diagnosed/treated at various Government Medical Colleges and apex
institutions like All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Post Graduate Institute of
Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, JIPMER, Puducherry, etc.
Assistance to the patients includes rehabilitation services, empirical steroid therapy and treatment,
physiotherapy/occupational therapy, counselling, etc.
Treatment in the Government hospitals is either free or at subsidized cost.
