Question : MEMU TRAIN BETWEEN RATLAM AND VADODARA



(a) whether ‘MEMU’ a daily local passenger train under Western Railway starts from Ratlam to Vadodara has a stoppage at every station and takes 5-6 hours to reach Vadodara;

(b) whether this train continues to stay at Ratlam and Vadodara railway-stations and leaves for the respective stations the next day;

(c) if so, the reasons for not starting this train on the return journey after some time as there are a large number of passengers on this route and they do not get seats in the compartments;

(d) whether no toilets have been provided in this train which ply for 5-6 hours at a stretch;

(e) if so, the reasons therefore; and

(f) the concrete steps taken by the Government to provide toilet facilities in this train ?

(a) No, Sir. There is no direct MEMU train running between Ratlam and Vadodara. However, the following MEMU trains are running on the section :-

1. 717/718 Vadodara-Dahod

2. 781/782 Dahod-Ratlam

3. 719/720 Vadodara-Godhra

4. 721/722 Vadodara-Godhra


(b) No, Sir.

(c) Does not arise.

(d) & (e) No toilets are provided by MEMU services as these are short distance services on heavy density sectors with higher carrying capacity.

(f) There is no such proposal at present.
