Question : PROPOSALS



(a) the total number of proposals received from the State Governments for irrigation and flood management projects under various schemes of the Central Government in respect of Leh and Kargil Districts of Jammu and Kashmir; and

(b) the present status of such proposals with details thereof?

(a) & (b) No new proposal has been received from the State Government for techno- economic appraisal of irrigation projects benefiting Leh and Kargil Districts of Jammu & Kashmir. Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of Ministry of Water Resources accepted the Major and Medium Irrigation proposals on lgo-Phey Irrigation Scheme benefitting Leh District and Parkachik Khawas Irrigation Canal Project benefitting Kargil District in the earlier years. In addition, 36 surface minor irrigation schemes have also been included under AIBP from 2008-14.

Out of 31 flood management schemes pertaining to Leh and Kargil Districts received from Jammu & Kashmir, 10 schemes have been cleared by Central Water Commission (CWC)/Advisory Committee of this Ministry. Details of schemes are at Annex-I.
