(a) whether the Railways have adopted National Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy, 2007;
(b) whether the Railways have taken/propose to take any effective steps for proper rehabilitation of farmers whose land will be acquired in laying rail line from Hazirpur, Sugauli, Chhapra and Muzzaffarpur; and
(c) if so, the details in this regard?

(a) to (c): Yes, Madam. National Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy- 2007 is
applicable to all projects leading to involuntary displacement of people including
projects pertaining to Railways. Land is acquired by Railways through State Governments
under the provision of Land Acquisition Act and also under the provisions of Railways
Act for notified Special Railway Projects. Implementation of rehabilitation and
resettlement plan in all these cases including Railway line from Hazirpur-Sugauli,
Chhapra-Muzzaffarpur is within the jurisdiction of State Government.
