Question : NIMS-RIMS

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the funds released to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS)/ Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Andhra Pradesh during the last three years; and

(b) the steps being taken to set up NIMS in Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation of the State?

(a): Government of India has taken up upgradation of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) under Phase – I of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) under Phase – III of PMSSY. PMSSY, being a Central Sector scheme, is implemented by the Ministry directly through Project Consultant/ Executing Agencies appointed by it and funds are released to the Project Consultants/ Executing Agencies accordingly.

(b): NIMS, Hyderabad was already upgraded under PMSSY Phase – I and hence, there is no proposal to set up/ upgrade NIMS further under the scheme
