(a)& (b): Yes, Madam. The Committee on Public Procurement (CoPP), set up under the
Chairmanship of Shri Vinod Dhall, had, inter alia, recommended that a Public
Procurement Act be enacted to regulate public procurement by Ministries/Departments
of the Central Government, Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) as well as
autonomous and statutory bodies.
Government has decided to introduce a Public Procurement Bill in Parliament. A
Drafting Committee has been set up to hold wide consultations on the proposed Bill
and prepare the final draft of the Bill.
