(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. Government has proposed some changes in the Central Excise Act, 1944.The important provisions in respect of which amendments have been proposed relate to recovery of duty, charging of interest, first charge in the case of default in payment and power to issue directions not to file appeal in certain cases. The details have been published in the Finance Bill, 2011.
