STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.310* FOR 07.12.2016 REGARDING INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT SCHEMES

(a): Urban Development is a State subject. The Ministry supports the efforts of State and UT Governments by providing technical and financial assistance through its various schemes and programmes. The Ministry is implementing the following schemes / programmes to support the infrastructure development in urban areas.
(i) Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT): The Government of India is implementing the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) since 2015-16 to strengthen the urban basic infrastructure such as water supply, sewerage, septage management, storm water drains etc. The Mission cities under AMRUT include all class – I cities with population over one lakh, all capital cities and identified cities located in hills, islands, river banks and tourist areas.
(ii) Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM): Swachh Bharat Scheme (Urban) was launched on 2nd October 2014 with the objectives of eliminating Open Defecation and scientific disposal of Municipal Solid Waste in all cities. The eligible components under SBM (U) are Individual Household Toilets (IHHT), Community Toilets (CT), Public Toilets (PT), Urinals, Solid Waste Management (SWM), capacity Building (CB), Information, Education, Communication (IEC).
(iii) 10% Lumpsum Provision Scheme for Benefit of North Eastern States Including Sikkim: Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to all the North Eastern States for Development of Urban Infrastructure. The scheme is open for the all cities of North Eastern Region.
(b): The details of plan outlay and the funds released under these schemes during the last three years and the current year is at Annexure-I (A), (B) and (C).
(c): Yes, Madam. Cities in Karnataka and other States were granted funds as per the mission / scheme guidelines. The details of funds released for Karnataka under AMRUT and SBM is at Annexure-II.
