Question : Visva-Bharati Act- 1951

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to amend the Visva-Bharati Act, 1951 to root out the
many problems Visva-Bharati University faces now and to make it an institution of national
importance and to provide for its functioning as a unitary teaching and residential university in the
true sense;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the time by which it is likely to be amended?

(a): No, Madam. Sufficient measures and safeguards are available in the extant Visva-Bharati Act
to facilitate smooth functioning of the University as an institution of national importance and a
unitary teaching and residential university.
